S – The general idea of this article is to describe the main causes leading up to the fall of the Roman Empire. The three things the author said that I thought were important are:
“the fall of Rome was fundamentally due to economic deterioration resulting from excessive taxation, inflation, and overregulation.”
“Interestingly, their protests not only had to do with excessive assessments by the tax farmers, as one would expect, but were also due to the fact that the provinces were becoming deeply indebted.”
“Rome’s borders were under continual pressure from Germanic tribes in the North and from the Persians in the East.”
O & A – This is a historical document that is typed.
The intended audience is anyone interested in learning about the fall of the Roman Empire. This
is to inform those interested in the topic and can be proven with the use of dates such as, “third century B.C” and “44 B.C,” showing that this is all factual.
This document was created in 1994.
P – I think this document was created to document and inform others of the history of Rome. The inclusion of specific dates and time periods such as, “73 B.C.” show that this document contains facts which further displays that this was written to be informative. It says nothing about life in the United States at the time it was created. This raises questions such as, “how could the Romans have prevented this downfall of their Empire?”
S – Bruce Bartlette created this document and I know this because it tells us who this is by directly under the title of the document. He is a historian and he is an outsider because I know that he was not alive around 73 B.C. if this was created by him in 1994. I feel as though no one's voice is not represented that is mention in the article.
